Belle Plaine, MN – The 2013 Belle Plaine St. Patrick’s Day celebration will be held on March 16th. Belle Plaine has a long rich tradition of celebrating St. Patrick’s day. Whether you are Irish or just Irish for the day, you can’t help but Think about the long history of Irish settlers in the Belle Plaine area and what St. Patricks day means to them.
Among this years festivities will be a parade featuring many Irish clans from the surrounding areas as well as bagpipers. The parade begins at 1:00 pm and starts at Our Lady of the Prairie catholic church. The paraders will march through the streets of Belle Plaine until they reach their final destination, the downtown bar district, where many thirsty Irish men and women will step inside one of the many fine bars and pubs to wet their whistle with a cold drink or two.
Immediately following the parade will be a proclamation speech by our new Mayor Mike Pingalore and the coronation crowning the 2013 Miss Shamrock will be held in the blocked off streets of beautiful and historic downtown Belle Plaine.
Later in the evening is when the party really gets started. Residents and visitors alike will come together for one of the largest St. Patricks Day parties in the state of Minnesota. Most assuredly a good time will be had by all. Places most frequented during the celebration are Johans Bar and Gril, Red Door Bar, Neils Pub, Shipwreck Saloon, Andys Bar and Grill and Sparetime Tavern. All of these fun and exciting destinations are all within one block walking distance of each other!
